Gene and Madra
I have always been interested in dolls. Even as a child I loved dolls.
I would make outfits for them, do their hair, and 'add' makeup, with markers.
Couple of years ago I got a fashion doll with every intent on making outfits for her. But sitting on a shelf for a year or two, nothing came of it. At some point I wanted to find out other dolls like that, and that started my whole new venture for me, as a doll repaint artist, and fashion maker.
Being that I worked as a fashion designer, and know how to make clothes, well it was not a hard transition. But from markers to repaint the doll faces, Well that took some research and trial and error.
These pictures showcase a small amount of the dolls that I repainted, and the later ones were photographed with a new digital camera, which allows me a higher resolution.
I remove the dolls original painting, and use liquid acrylic paints and sealers, I also glue eyelashes, which by now became my trade mark, sort of, all my dolls get eyelashes.
I do the hair styles by twisting the hair in different configurations, fasten with rubber bands and pins, and add whatever seems necessary to get the 'look' for that specific doll. I usually do not cut the dolls hair, in case I wanted to change the hair style.
